Whatever the reasons, many many people now need and want to make money, once they have gone beyond the age of retirement. I know that I will wish to do so and have spent some time researching. This has paid off and I have found some valuable ideas. For me, the most obvious thing to try first, is to develop a system - a money making machine - which I can work at home.

I know that there are some opportunities for those of us in the 'gray generation' to earn extra cash by taking part-time jobs in the community. Many businesses appreciate the qualities which seniors can bring to the table. This can certainly be something which will work for those who need to be among people and prefer to have the company of others during their work time.

My preference is to develop a business of my own, which can be operated from home, with a minimum requirement for space and equipment. The suggestions I make today fit this description perfectly and are working successfully, on many different levels, for many people already. The method is to set up as an 'internet marketer' and to earn money, either directly by selling goods and services, or indirectly, by taking commissions for generating sales for others.

There are in fact two separate markets out there, one for physical products, goods etc. and another for information products. A good example of physical products is books; books have always been a passion of ours, so it is great to be able to make money with something we love.

There is unlikely to be a fortune made, but modest commissions on the sale of new books, from Amazon for instance, can mount up. More interesting to us, is the opportunity to 'recycle' many of our second hand books. Once again Amazon offers opportunities, this time through their 'market place'. I am moved by the thought of our much-loved books giving pleasure to others, as well as earning us a little money. What a classic win/win situation. Perhaps you can think of 'things' which fascinate you, which could form the basis of a business opportunity?

Now for the sector of the market which might be as yet unfamiliar to many people. The buying and selling of information products, such as ebooks, study courses and reports etc. is now a massive generator of earnings. In some cases, a form of physical product might be involved, such as CDs and DVDs, but many are available as computer downloads. This can make their delivery simple and as the payments are electronic also, then the whole business can be extremely simple and efficient.

This is an example where selling on behalf of others is of real interest. When one does not have a product to sell, or even have a clue about how to produce one, it is great to know that there are many businesses who rely on others - usually known as affiliates, associates or agents - to sell their products for them.

To begin to make money in this 'brave new world' of information marketing, it is probably necessary to learn a few new skills. The good news is that with a computer, internet connection and the right instructions, a business - or money making machine - can be set up fairly quickly.

My recommendation is to carefully research and get 'underneath' all the hype. For those who want to press on quickly, I suggest a fast-start course, while a more measured pace suits some people and having information delivered in stages can be a better option. A whole new start to earning money in retirement could be a lot nearer than you think.
